Everywhere, Everything – Noah Kahan

This song will forever remind me of walking back to our flat after class in London, and every single one of us playing the new Noah Kahan album. My friend Mary Morgan told us to listen to “Everywhere, Everything” because it was her favorite on the album so far, so I put in my Air Pods and listened. The feeling was so surreal, walking in a foreign country, while listening to the chorus of this song. The vibe was incredible, and I still get chills listening to this song now. I also listened to it when we hiked the Seven Sisters cliffs, which was another out-of-body experience. So, whenever I hear this song, I think of the many opportunities that life has to offer and how fortunate I have been, such as being able to live abroad with my friends.

Behind the Lyrics:

This song is about making the most of every minute of this life and spending it with the ones you love. Being able to love someone until you are “food for the worms to eat,” which is quite a grotesque image but sweet, nonetheless. In the song, he sends a message to embrace the ones they love and live in the present as much as possible: “We didn’t know that the sun was collapsing.” The small everyday moments in life are the ones he seems to appreciate the most when he is reflecting on his life in the verses but are usually the ones people take for granted. This wholesome song about wanting to spend the rest of your life with someone until you “decompose” is so beautifully written and produced, definitely making it one of my favorites on this album.
