If any of my high school friends are reading this, you will know exactly where I am going with this story. For some reason, we were obsessed with this song fall of our sophomore year. We started this random tradition, where every Friday after our football game we would go to this random restaurant that was having karaoke and pitcher night, and we would commandeer the stage. It was so much fun, and this is the song that we would sing, so naturally it takes me back to these times. I don’t even remember if we stayed the whole football game, but this was always a fun girls’ night regardless.
Behind the Lyrics:
“Thunderclouds” is a song by LSD, a group made up of Labyrinth, Sia, and Diplo. This song is about the metaphorical thunderclouds filled with fear, distrust, and anxiety, that can hang over a romantic relationship. In the song, there are two narrators that both struggle with anxious attachment styles and are trying to reassure their significant other that there is no need to feel anxious because they are secure in the relationship. I could definitely go deeper into the lyrics and the characters that each singer plays, but the group very clearly represents a couple that is affected by past relationship trauma, and all they need to do to fix these troubles is reassure each other that their love is real.
